Tommy La Stella knocked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Columbus Crowd
ballclub embarrassed the Dyersville Jurassics by the count of 15 to 4.
La Stella propelled Columbus to victory. He stroked a single which brought
home a run in the 2nd inning, cracked a two-run shot in the 3rd inning,
delivered a one-base hit in the 4th inning and smashed a solo-shot out of the
park in the 9th inning. Columbus bats were very productive in the 2nd inning
when they had 5 runs on 4 hits and the 4th inning which saw them plate 5 runs
on 4 hits. Columbus ended up with 14 hits for the game while Dyersville had
10.
Brandon Woodruff(1-1) was the winner allowing 4 runs in 6 innings. The loss
was charged to Jack Flaherty(0-1). He allowed 4 hits and 3 walks in 1 and
2/3 innings.
La Stella said, 'It was just all timing. I had pretty good rhythm at the plate
tonight. You've got to take advantage of mistakes when you can. A couple
pitches were definitely up a little bit - right in my zone.'
