Joe Mauer had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Vernon Hillbillies bested the San Ybel
Islanders 5 to 3 at PNC Park.
Vernon scored the decisive runs in a big top of the 9th inning scoring 2 runs
on 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Yasmani Grandal started the rally when
he stroked a base-hit. Justin Turner next to the plate and he reached on an
error. Mauer then ripped a one-base hit, and an error was also committed,
scoring two teammates. Vernon finished with 11 hits while San Ybel ended up
with 7.
Seung Hwan Oh(2-6) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1/3 of an
inning. Oh got help from Pedro Strop who earned his 7th save. Carl Edwards
Jr(1-5) was the loser in relief. He pitched 1/3 of an inning and surrendered
1 hit and no walks.
