Left fielder Andrew McCutchen smashed 2 homeruns as the Holland Heffalumps
really laid it on the Hollywood Marines 17 to 7.
McCutchen was spectacular at the plate. The hometown fans showed their
appreciation with a standing ovation his last time at bat. He lined a single
in the 5th inning, clubbed a two-run home run in the 6th inning and caught a
hold of a fastball for a Grand Slam homerun in the 7th inning. Holland kept
the scorekeepers busy in the 2nd inning with 5 runs on 4 hits and the 7th
inning which saw them plate 5 runs on 5 hits. Offensively, Holland was a
juggernaut. They scored in 6 separate innings.
Mike Leake(11-8) picked up the victory, allowing 6 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings.
Sal Romano(1-5) suffered the loss in relief. He allowed 3 homeruns in 3
innings of work.
'It's just about getting in a good hitting position and just going out there
and being prepared,' McCutchen said. 'You try to hit in your own capacity and
not do too much. I just try to have a good approach, day after day, game by
game, and pitch by pitch.'
