Right fielder Adam Jones had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Vernon Hillbillies
defeated the Chicago Colts 8 to 6 at Long Grove CG.
Chicago was unable to claim the lead after Vernon went ahead in the 4th inning
scoring 4 runners on 4 hits. The biggest moment was provided by Yasmani
Grandal who made the Vernon fans a happy lot when he lifted one out of the
park for a two run home run. Chicago had a chance in the 9th but they came
up short.
Raisel Iglesias(4-1) went 1/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the win.
Jordan Lyles(1-6) was the losing pitcher. He saw his ERA jump from 5.50 to
5.88 as gave up 4 runs in 3 and 2/3 innings.
Despite losing Rich Domovic was optimistic after the game. 'We'll get over
this one. Sometimes the breaks fall your way, sometimes they don't. Any one
of a dozen little things go different, and we come out on top.'
