One run was the difference at Wrigley Field as the Holland Heffalumps defeated
the Oakland Athletics 5 to 4.
The game was decided in the 9th inning. After two were out Martin Maldonado
stroked a single. Andrew McCutchen next to the plate and he delivered a
base-hit. Jed Lowrie then lined a single scoring the run. Lowrie took
second on the throw. Holland took care of Oakland with no trouble in the
bottom of the 9th.
The winning pitcher was Adam Ottavino(7-3) who allowed 1 run in 2 and 1/3
innings. Antonio Senzatela(4-5) took the loss in relief. He pitched 2/3 of
an inning and surrendered 3 hits and no walks.
With this win, Holland has a division leading 46-27 record. They have been
7-3 lately. With this loss, Oakland has a 3-7 record of late, 30-43 overall.
