Robbie Ray carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning and Stephen Piscotty
smashed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Englefield Green where the Chicago Colts
beat the Woodfield Roadkyll by the score of 10 to 2.
Piscotty was in a groove all evening. The Woodfield fans hated to see him
approaching the batter's box. He doubled in the 4th inning, cracked a
two-run shot in the 5th inning and popped a two-run clout over the fence in
the 7th inning. Chicago finished with 14 hits while Woodfield ended up with
4.
Ray(2-6) allowed 2 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the victory. The
left-handed Ray lost his no-hit bid when Gleyber Torres homered with nobody
out in the 6th inning. Luke Weaver(0-4) was tagged with the loss. He was
unable to control the Chicago offense and allowed 7 hits and 2 walks in 4 and
1/3 innings.
Ray, when asked about his 10 strikeout performance noted, 'The important thing
is that we won, if I get 20 and we lose, what good does it do our team? But,
on the other hand, since we won it feels great!'
