The Chicago Colts scored 6 runs in the 5th inning and nipped the Hollywood
Marines 9 to 8 at West Side Park in a hard fought contest.
Chicago scored the winning runs in the bottom of the 8th inning plating 2 runs
on 3 base hits. After an out was recorded, Marcus Semien was the sparkplug
when he smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly'. Adeiny Hechavarria stepped up to
the plate and he ripped a one-base hit. Kevin Pillar got his turn next, but
he was a strikeout victim. Joey Wendle stepped in and he lashed a single.
D.J. Lemahieu came to the plate and drew a walk to load the bases. Charlie
Blackmon kept the rally going and was hit by a pitch scoring the final run of
the inning. A wild and woolly affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times.
Dylan Floro(4-1) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2/3 of an inning.
Floro was helped out by Jose Alvarado who recorded his 19th save. Tony
Watson(1-2) was the losing pitcher in relief.
With this win, Chicago has a 31-36 record. They have been 5-5 lately. With
the loss Hollywood now has a record of 28-39.
