The Tombstone Huckleberries got by the Woodfield Roadkyll at Englefield Green.
The final score was 8 to 6.
Tombstone scored the decisive runs in a big top of the 8th inning plating 3
runs utilizing 4 base hits. Peter O'Brien led off and keyed the rally when
he drew a walk. J.D. Martinez came next and he drew a walk. Patrick Wisdom
then delivered a single to load the bases. Ryan Lamarre followed next and he
grounded into a double play. Corey Dickerson came to the plate and was
walked intentionally to load the bases. Francisco Cervelli kept the inning
going and ripped a base-knock resulting in a run. Ben Zobrist next to the
plate and he ripped a base-hit plating one more runner. Kevan Smith then
ripped a one-base hit scoring the final run of the inning. Woodfield
threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.
The win was credited to Corey Kluber(7-3) who went 7 innings allowing 5 runs.
Kluber got relief help from Edwin Diaz who gained credit for his 17th save.
Joe Jimenez(4-2) took the loss in relief.
