Center fielder Billy Hamilton collected 2 extra-base hits at Citizens Bank
Park as the Aarlington Aardvarks beat the Palatine Cubs 6 to 5.
Aarlington scored 2 runs in the top of the 6th inning when they had 3 base
hits. Omar Narvaez led off and got things going when he delivered a one-base
hit. After an out was recorded, Hamilton came to the plate and tripled
scoring a single run. One out later, Joe Mauer then ripped a base-hit
scoring the final run of the inning. Palatine made it exciting in the 9th,
but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
The victory was credited to Derek Holland(3-3) who went 6 and 1/3 innings,
allowing 3 runs. Jeremy Jeffress gained credit for his 7th save. The loss
was charged to Julio Teheran(3-4).
'We just made a lot of mistakes, mostly mental,' Tony Calabrese said. 'It's
bad enough when the other team beats you, but when you start beating
yourselves, that's really bad.'
