Second baseman Ozzie Albies had 4 hits as the Vernon Hillbillies topped the
Hollywood Marines in 11 innings by a score of 4 to 3 at Comerica Park.
The score was tied at 3 after nine. Vernon won the game in the 11th inning.
After an out was recorded, Justin Turner ripped a base-knock. C.J. Cron
stepped up to the plate and he doubled. Adam Jones then was walked
intentionally to load the bases. Rhys Hoskins was a strikeout victim, unable
to help out. Andrelton Simmons stepped into the box and lined a one-base hit
scoring the run. Hollywood went down without a fight in the bottom of the
11th.
The victory went to Jesse Chavez(2-1) who went 3 and 2/3 innings, allowing no
runs. Chavez got help from Seranthony Dominguez who was credited with his 3rd
save. Tony Watson(1-1) was the losing pitcher in relief.
