19,004 fans watched an exciting game at Comerica Park. The very talented
Hollywood Marines topped the New York The Yanks by the slimmest of margins, 3
to 2.
Hollywood scored all of the necessary runs in the 8th inning scoring 3 runs on
3 base hits. Jarrod Dyson led off and started the attack as he stroked a
single. Zach McAllister then threw a pitch that got away from the catcher.
After an out was recorded, T.J. Rivera then doubled scoring a single run.
Matt Carpenter stepped in and he lifted one out of the park for a two run
home run. New York made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push
the needed runs across.
Marcus Stroman(17-8) went 8 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Stroman
was helped out by Blake Parker who recorded his 8th save. McAllister(3-3)
was the losing pitcher in relief. He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings allowing 2
hits and no walks.
Brian Anderson was in a talkative mood in the clubhouse, 'Great game! If only
we could win all of the close ones - wouldn't that be nice! Since that's not
going to happen, I think I'll savor this one for a little while.'
