20,499 fans were treated to a fine game at the ballpark as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The San Ybel Islanders won by the
slimmest of margins, 6 to 5.
San Ybel tallied 3 runs in the top of the 2nd inning. Cody Bellinger led off
and keyed the rally when he drew a walk. Mark Reynolds got his turn next,
but he was a strikeout victim. Matt Szczur then drew a walk. Whit
Merrifield was up next and he reached on an error. Jason Castro stepped into
the box and ripped a one-base hit bringing in a run. Albert Almora Jr
contributed to the rally and laced a base-hit accounting for two more runs.
San Ybel had a total of 12 hits for the game.
James Paxton(9-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 5 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 2 runs. Paxton was helped out by Alex Colome who recorded his 20th
save. C.C. Sabathia(9-7) ended up with the loss. He pitched 7 innings and
surrendered 9 hits and 5 walks.
The San Ybel ballclub's record now stands at a division leading 72-47. With
this loss, Aarlington has a 3-7 record of late, 44-75 overall.
