Right fielder Jason Heyward had 2 base hits as the Streator Reds defeated the
slumping Aarlington Aardvarks 3 to 1 at Wrigley Field.
Streator came through with the game-winning runs in the bottom of the 8th
inning scoring 2 runs using 3 hits. After an out was recorded, Todd Frazier
started the attack as he drew a walk. Albert Pujols followed next and he
doubled. Willson Contreras then stroked a one-base hit scoring a run.
Heyward was up next and he stroked a base-hit scoring the final run of the
inning. Aarlington tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.
The victory was credited to Wade Davis(2-1) who went 1/3 of an inning,
allowing no runs. Davis got help from Craig Kimbrel who earned his 11th save.
Chase Whitley(0-2) suffered the loss in relief.
Streator continued their winnings ways improving their record to 36-31. They
are 8-2 in their last ten games. Aarlington continued their losing ways and
their record is now 20-47, worst in the division. They are 1-9 in their last
ten games.
