One run was the difference at PNC Park as the San Ybel Islanders defeated the
Gotham Gold Gloves 7 to 6.
San Ybel wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning as they scored 3
runs on 3 base hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Carlos
Gonzalez who made the San Ybel fans a happy lot when he banged out a single
which was good for two runs. Gotham threatened in the 9th but San Ybel was
able to put down the rally.
Charlie Morton(2-2) allowed 3 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Trevor Williams(0-1) was tagged with the loss. San Ybel scored big
getting 6 runs off him in 5 innings.
Mike Wilson was subdued after the ballgame, 'That one really hurts. If our
guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we could have won that one.
That is what really ticks me off!'
