Yasiel Puig smashed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the New York The Yanks
defeated the Woodfield Roadkyll 8 to 7 at Englefield Green.
Puig was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at
their team's expense. He banged out a single in the 2nd inning, cracked a
two-run shot in the 5th inning and hit a bases-empty home run in the 7th
inning. Woodfield had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
The win went to Alex Cobb(2-1) who allowed 2 runs in 6 innings. Ross Stripling
preserved the game for Cobb, recording his his 1st save. The loss was
charged to Jimmy Nelson(0-4). He got hit hard, allowing 9 hits and 5 walks
in 6 and 1/3 innings.
Jim Calabrese was in a talkative mood in the clubhouse, 'Great game! If only
we could win all of the close ones - wouldn't that be nice! Since that's not
going to happen, I think I'll savor this one for a little while.'
