Shortstop Tim Beckham had 2 base hits at Busch Stadium as the Hollywood
Marines lost a heartbreaker to Tampico Stogies by the score of 8 to
5.
Tampico had the winning rally in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs. Ryan Hanigan
led off and started the rally when he was hit by a pitch. Beckham followed
next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Brett Gardner was next to the plate,
but was promptly struck out. Josh Donaldson came up and he belted a
three-run homer giving Tampico the win much to the delight of the home town
crowd. Tampico managed 12 hits in their victory.
The victory was credited to Edwin Diaz(3-2) who went 1 inning, allowing 2
runs. Dan Otero(0-1) was the loser in relief. He was unable to retire a
batter giving up no hits and no walks.
