9,549 fans were treated to a fine game at West Side Park as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The very strong Columbus Crowd won
by the slimmest of margins, 7 to 6.
Stephen Vogt had a big day with his bat. He doubled in the 5th inning,
launched a rocket-shot out of the park for a Grand Slam homerun in the 6th
inning and laced a base-hit in the 8th inning. Chicago had a chance to come
back in the 9th but they came up short.
The win was credited to Erasmo Ramirez(2-0) who went 4 and 2/3 innings
allowing no runs. Dustin McGowan recorded his 2nd save. Jeff
Samardzija(11-10) took the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 9 hits and 2
walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.
