Max Scherzer whiffed 10 batters as the amazing Vernon Hillbillies defeated the
Columbus Crowd by the score of 11 to 5 at Long Grove CG.
Scherzer(15-7) gave Vernon a solid outing. He went 7 innings allowing 7 hits
and 2 walks and allowed 3 gopher balls. Vernon had 12 hits for the night
while Columbus had 7.
Steven Wright(13-5) took the loss. He allowed Vernon 5 runs in 3 and 1/3
innings of work. John Stryker was asked about the performance of Scherzer,
'He had his good stuff out there tonight. The fans really get into it when
the strikeouts start mounting up - and that seems to give him even more
adrenalin.'
