Matt Shoemaker carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning and Asdrubal Cabrera
had 3 base hits as the New York The Yanks topped the Yuma Desert Rats by a
score of 6 to 2 at Comerica Park.
Shoemaker(8-6) pitched well for New York in their victory. He went 5 and 1/3
innings surrendering 2 hits and 1 walk. The right-handed Shoemaker lost his
no-hit bid when Lorenzo Cain singled with nobody out in the 6th inning. New
York ended up with 13 hits for the game while Yuma had 5.
Shoemaker got relief help from Nick Wittgren who gained credit for his 4th
save. J.A. Happ(9-4) was hit with the loss. He was unable to control the
New York offense and allowed 9 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings.
