Steve Pearce had 4 hits and 5 RBI as the Columbus Crowd defeated the Yuma
Desert Rats by a score of 15 to 6 at Comerica Park.
Pearce led the offense for Columbus. He ripped a one-base hit which was good
for two runs in the 3rd inning, stroked a base-hit bringing in two
baserunners in the 5th inning, lined a single in the 6th inning and doubled
bringing in a run in the 7th inning. Columbus lit up the scoreboard in the
5th inning which saw them score 8 runs on 5 hits and the 7th inning when they
had 4 runs on 5 hits. Columbus had 15 hits for the night while Yuma had 9.
Cole Hamels(8-2) went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 5 runs for the win. Tanner
Roark(5-7) was hit with the loss. He gave up 7 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings of
work.
'Wow. That's about all I can think to say.' said Frank Lopeman following the
victory. 'If ever a team needed a win, it was us.'
