Jose Fernandez racked up an impressive total of 16 strikeouts and Jeremy
Hazelbaker homered and had 3 RBI as the Gotham Gold Gloves defeated the
Dyersville Jurassics 12 to 4 at the ballpark.
Hazelbaker enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He tripled resulting in a run
in the 2nd inning, lifted one out of the park for a two run home run in the
4th inning and ripped a base-hit in the 8th inning. Gotham had 14 hits
overall, while Dyersville had 10.
The victory went to Fernandez(6-0) who went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs. Doug
Fister(3-6) was charged with the loss. Fernandez was asked about his big
strikeout performance, 'Well, it's a little odd when you rack up these
numbers on the road - instead of cheers and a running tally in the stands,
everything gets real still and quiet. Just strange - but it's nice to be
able to take the crowd out of the game.'
