Catcher Sandy Leon had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Yuma Desert Rats outscored the
San Ybel Islanders 13 to 9.
San Ybel found themselves trailing quickly as the Yuma bats came through in
the first inning when they came up with 5 runs on 4 hits. The key offensive
moment was provided by Matt Carpenter who deflated the crowd as he laced a
base-knock bringing home two baserunners. San Ybel was not lacking for run
support as they scored in 5 separate innings, yet victory eluded them as they
seemed to forget that pitching is also needed to win ballgames.
