In a dramatic ending, the Woodfield Roadkyll staged a comeback win over the
Oakland Athletics by the count of 4 to 3.
Woodfield had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning plating 2
runs on 2 base hits. Hanley Ramirez led off and started the rally when he
lashed a single. Chris Carter came next and he drew a walk. Kevin Kiermaier
struck out, unable to help the rally. Travis D'Arnaud followed next and he
drew a walk to load the bases. Joc Pederson followed, but he was set down on
strikes. Alcides Escobar added to the rally and ripped a base-knock making
Woodfield the victors to the delight of the home town faithful. Woodfield
ended up with 9 hits for the game while Oakland had 3.
The victory went to Carlos Estevez(1-0) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs.
Cody Allen(0-2) was tagged with the loss in relief. He gave up 2 runs and 1
hit in 1/3 of an inning.
'What a game!,' Estevez said afterward. 'When we won it I almost couldn't
believe it!'
