Josh Donaldson cracked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Busch Stadium as the
Tampico Stogies, running on all cylinders, ripped the Tombstone Huckleberries
by a large 12 to 2 margin.
The Tampico fans enjoyed the offense provided by Donaldson. He stroked a
single in the 3rd inning, clubbed a solo home run in the 4th inning, doubled
knocking in a run in the 5th inning and smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in
the 7th inning. The Tampico offense poured it on, scoring in 7 of the 9
innings.
The victory was credited to Chris Archer(2-0) who went 6 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 2 runs. Corey Kluber(1-1) was tagged with the loss. He gave up 7
runs in 2 and 2/3 innings of work.
'It's just about getting in a good hitting position and just going out there
and being prepared,' Donaldson said. 'You try to hit in your own capacity and
not do too much. I just try to have a good approach, day after day, game by
game, and pitch by pitch.'
