Trevor Plouffe rocketed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Dyersville Jurassics
defeated the Yuma Desert Rats by a score of 9 to 3 at Comerica Park.
Plouffe enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He cleared the fences for a
two-run home run in the 2nd inning, stroked a one-base hit in the 5th inning
and clubbed a solo home run in the 6th inning. Dyersville finished with 14
hits while Yuma ended up with 7.
Felix Hernandez(2-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and
allowing 3 runs. Gerrit Cole(4-1) ended up with the loss. He was knocked
around pretty good, giving up 7 runs in 4 innings.

Brandon Phillips touched them all and Max Scherzer took a no-hitter into the
6th inning as the Vernon Hillbillies outscored the Streator Reds 5 to
2.
Scherzer(2-3) pitched a fine game. He went 7 innings surrendering 3 hits and
2 walks seeing his ERA drop from 4.85 to 4.36. The right-handed Scherzer
lost his no-hit bid when J.J. Hardy singled with nobody out in the 6th
inning. Vernon had 11 hits for the game and Streator had 5.
Scherzer got help from Randall Delgado who earned his 1st save. Edinson
Volquez(1-3) took the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 10 hits and 4
walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.

Hendersonville Commandoes beat the Hoffman Estates Penguins 10 to 6.
In the top of the 2nd inning Hendersonville scored 7 runs when they came up
with 6 base hits. That early scoring held up. For the game Hendersonville
out-hit Hoffman Estates 15 to 8.
Rubby De La Rosa(2-2) picked up the victory, allowing 6 runs in 8 innings. The
losing pitcher was Adam Warren(1-2). He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings and
surrendered 5 hits and 3 walks.

The Columbus Crowd had an easy time of it at the ballpark defeating the
Burbank Tigers by a score of 10 to 5.
Jonathan Villar provided the offensive punch. He launched a three-run homer
in the 3rd inning, tripled which brought home a run in the 6th inning and
doubled in the 8th inning. Columbus ended up with 13 hits for the game while
Burbank had 9.
Nate Karns(2-1) allowed 2 runs in 6 innings, and picked up the victory. James
Shields(1-4) was charged with the loss. He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 6 hits and 3 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.
DETROIT AT OAKLAND

Clayton Kershaw whiffed 14 batters as the Oakland Athletics defeated the
Detroit Iron Gloves in 18 innings by the score of 3 to 2 at Oakland
Coliseum.
Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings. Oakland came out on
top in the 18th inning. After two outs Randal Grichuk doubled. Eduardo
Escobar came to the plate and was walked intentionally. Grichuk proceeded to
steal third base. Marlon Byrd came up and he ripped a single resulting in a
mighty exciting win for Oakland and the 236 home town fans in attendance.
Oakland out-hit Detroit for the game, 17 hits to 11.
The win was credited to Koji Uehara(1-0) who went 2 innings allowing no runs.
Rick Porcello(0-3) suffered the loss in relief. Despite taking the loss, he
whiffed 7 batters in 4 and 2/3 innings.

Maikel Franco smashed 2 homeruns at The O.K. Corral as the Tombstone

It was a good day for Tombstone thanks to Franco. He smashed a bases-empty
'big-fly' in the 3rd inning, slapped a base-hit in the 5th inning and ripped
a solo home run in the 7th inning. Tombstone and Caracas each finished the
night with 7 hits.
Corey Kluber(2-1) went 7 innings allowing 4 runs for the win. Kluber got help
from Mark Melancon who was credited with his 6th save. Colby Lewis(1-2)
absorbed the loss. He allowed 4 homeruns in 6 and 2/3 innings of work.

Jake Odorizzi reeled off a total of 10 strikeouts as the Palatine Cubs

Odorizzi(3-1) put on a good performance. He didn't allow much, just 3 hits
and 2 walks in 7 innings lowering his ERA to 2.12. Palatine rapped out 7
hits for the night.
Andrew Cashner(2-2) absorbed the loss. Despite losing, he struckout 8
Palatine batters in 5 innings. Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance of

Jacob Degrom came through with a solid 7 innings as the Aarlington Aardvarks
defeated the Tampico Stogies by the score of 9 to 2 at the ballpark.
Tampico was unable to climb back into it after Aarlington went ahead for good
in the bottom of the 7th inning when they came up with 3 runs on 5 hits. The
biggest moment was provided by James Loney who made the Aarlington fans a
happy lot when he stroked a single plating two runs. Aarlington had 12 hits
overall, while Tampico had 4.
The win went to Degrom(5-0) who allowed 2 runs in 7 innings. Brett Cecil got
the save, his 2nd. Chris Archer(1-4) suffered the loss. While he was the
losing pitcher, he still struck out 10 batters in 6 and 1/3 innings.
Aarlington now has a record of 10-11. Tampico has a record of 6-15, worst in
the division after the loss.

The Dublin Pubcrawlers defeated the California Luv by a score of 6 to 2 at
Chase Field.
Dublin took the lead for keeps in the bottom of the 2nd inning scoring one
runner utilizing 3 base hits. Dublin had a total of 10 hits for the game.
Madison Bumgarner(2-2) got the win allowing no runs in 6 and 1/3 innings.
Chris Tillman(0-2) suffered the loss. He gave up 8 hits and 4 walks in 7
innings.
