topped the Dyersville Jurassics by the slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.
Detroit won the game with a rally in the 8th inning with 2 runs using 2 hits.
Carlos Gonzalez led off and he drew a walk. Jay Bruce came next and he
lifted one out of the park for a two run home run. Dyersville had a chance
in the 9th but they came up short.
The win went to Johnny Cueto(12-6) who allowed 4 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings.
Jonathan Papelbon recorded the save, his 13th. Daniel Hudson(2-9) was hit
with the loss in relief. He surrendered 2 hits and 1 walk in 2/3 of an
inning.
Mike Wilson was in a talkative mood in the clubhouse, 'Great game! If only we
could win all of the close ones - wouldn't that be nice! Since that's not
going to happen, I think I'll savor this one for a little while.'
