Melvin Upton Jr rocketed 2 homeruns as the San Ybel Islanders defeated the
pathetic California Luv by a score of 6 to 4 at Progressive
Field.

California found themselves trailing quickly as the San Ybel bats came through
in the first inning when they came up with 4 runs on 5 hits. The key at-bat
was by Dexter Fowler who made the San Ybel fans a happy lot when he cleared
the fences for a two-run home run. San Ybel had 12 hits for the night while
California had 8.

The win was credited to James Paxton(1-1) who went 8 and 1/3 innings allowing
4 runs. Carlos Villanueva preserved the game for Paxton, recording his his
5th save. The losing pitcher was Brett Anderson(4-9). He allowed 3 homeruns
in 2/3 of an inning of work.

San Ybel now has a record of 50-48. Not able to get much going in recent
weeks, California is 1-9 of late and now has an overall record of 36-62,
worst in the division.
