Martin Maldonado connected with a 'big fly' and had 4 RBI at Streater Park as
the Streator Reds beat the Vernon Hillbillies by the count of 7 to 2.
Vernon was unable to recover after Streator went ahead in the bottom of the
3rd inning when they tallied 2 runs on 3 hits. The key at-bat was by Martin
Prado who made the crowd come alive when he laced a base-knock which was good
for two runs. Streator had 12 hits for the night while Vernon had 6.
The victory went to Chris Sale(11-6) who went 7 innings, allowing 2 runs. The
loss was charged to Jimmy Nelson(8-5). He allowed a few too many baserunners
giving up 9 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.
Wth the win Streator now has a record of 48-43. With the loss Vernon now has
a record of 62-29.
