One run was the difference at Comerica Park as the Yuma Desert Rats defeated
the New York The Yanks 4 to 3.
Yuma came through with the game-winning runs in the 8th inning scoring 2 runs.
After an out was recorded, Jose Altuve jump-started the rally as he drew a
walk. Altuve stole second with some aggressive base running. Lorenzo Cain
was the next batter, but he struck out. Mitch Moreland stepped in and he
drew a walk. George Springer came up to bat and drew a walk to load the
bases. Matt Carpenter kept the rally going and delivered a one-base hit
scoring a single run. Kendrys Morales followed and he drew a walk scoring
the final run of the inning. Yuma managed only 4 hits on the night.
Darren O'Day(4-4) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3
innings. Zach McAllister(1-4) took the loss in relief. He allowed 2 runs and
no hits in 2/3 of an inning.
