Tommy Hunter came through with a solid 4 innings and Eric Hosmer touched them
all and had 4 RBI at Lawton Stadium as the California Luv pulled off a
dramatic comeback beating the Columbus Crowd by the count of 9 to
5.
California came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 9th inning as
they scored 6 runs on 4 base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Miguel
Sano who elicited a roar from the hometown fans when he brought the hometown
folks to their feet with a Grand Slammer. California totaled 8 hits on the
night.
The victory was credited to Sergio Romo(3-1) who went 1/3 of an inning,
allowing no runs. The loss was charged to David Robertson(3-4) in relief. He
surrendered 3 hits and 2 walks in 1/3 of an inning.
Greg Edens was in great spirits in his post-game interview. Yet, when asked
about his feelings after the thrilling comeback victory, he volunteered,
'I'll tell you this much - I know how my counterpart, Frank Lopeman, feels
right now - and it's not very good. It's terrible when you come up on the
short end of one of these!'
