Josh Phegley had 4 hits and 6 RBI and A.J. Burnett had a complete game as the
Oakland Athletics were badly beaten by the Hoffman Estates Penguins, 18 to
1.
Phegley really lit it up for Hoffman Estates. The Oakland fans let him have
it for what he did to their boys. He clubbed a solo home run in the 2nd
inning, delivered a single scoring a run in the 4th inning, doubled which
scored a run in the 6th inning and ripped a one-base hit plating two runs in
the 6th inning. Hoffman Estates lit up the scoreboard in the 6th inning
which saw them score 7 runs on 5 hits and the 7th inning which saw them plate
6 runs on 3 hits. Hoffman Estates kept the pressure on throughout the
contest as they scored in 6 different innings.
Burnett(9-6) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 1 run. Jon
Niese(3-4) ended up with the loss.
