Starling Marte knocked 2 homeruns as the Dyersville Jurassics defeated the
Columbus Crowd 15 to 8 at the ballpark.
Marte had a great evening at the plate. He laced a base-hit which scored a
run in the 1st inning, caught a hold of a fastball for a Grand Slam homerun
in the 3rd inning and lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 4th inning.
Dyersville bats were hot in the 3rd inning which saw them score 6 runs on 3
hits and the 5th inning scoring 5 runs. Columbus scored in 5 different
innings, but their shaky pitching kept them from victory.
Jeremy Jeffress(2-0) allowed no runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory.
Roenis Elias(2-5) suffered the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering
5 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.
'It's just about getting in a good hitting position and just going out there
and being prepared,' Marte said. 'You try to hit in your own capacity and not
do too much. I just try to have a good approach, day after day, game by game,
and pitch by pitch.'
