At Long Grove CG, the Vernon faithful were treated to an intriguing pitcher's
duel. Madison Bumgarner(7-3) finally bested his Vernon counterpart, David
Price(8-4), by the score of 3 to 1.
Dublin had 2 runs cross the plate in the top of the 2nd inning with the help
of 3 hits. Evan Longoria led off and keyed the rally when he doubled. A.J.
Pollock was next and he was hit by a pitch. Ian Kinsler then ripped a
base-hit which scored a run. A.J. Ellis followed next and he laced a single
scoring the final run of the inning. That early run support was all that
Bumgarner required. Bumgarner was helped out by Kenley Jansen who pitched a
perfect ninth and recorded his 6th save.
Price was the losing pitcher. He pitched 7 innings allowing 5 hits and 1
walk.
