Seth Smith had 2 base hits and 4 RBI as the sizzling Hoffman Estates Penguins
defeated the Burbank Tigers 5 to 4 at the ballpark.
Hoffman Estates erupted with the game winning runs in the top of the 8th
inning with 3 runs on 2 hits. Derek Norris led off and keyed the rally when
he drew a walk. One out later, Enrique Hernandez was the next batter, but he
struck out. Francisco Lindor then ripped a single. Mookie Betts followed
and he drew a walk to load the bases. Smith stepped into the box and doubled
clearing the bases. Burbank had a chance to come back in the 9th but they
came up short.
Erik Goeddel(1-0) got the win allowing no runs in 3 and 1/3 innings. Jeurys
Familia gained credit for his 15th save. Andrew Chafin(1-2) suffered the
loss in relief.
Hoffman Estates added another win to their now very impressive winning streak.
'Everything seems to be going right for us' said Steve Seydell. 'I've got
the easiest job in the league right now!'
