Designated hitter Adonis Garcia smacked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI and Joe Kelly
was able to finish what he started and was credited with a complete game as
the San Ybel Islanders defeated the Detroit Iron Gloves by a score of 6 to 2
at Edsel Stadium.
Garcia was unconscious out there. While Detroit pitching was serving
softballs up there for him to hit, the Detroit fans were serving up some
hardball barbs when he entered the batter's box. But he just used it as fuel
for the fire. He lifted one out of the park for a two run home run in the
1st inning, lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the 2nd inning, stroked a single
in the 7th inning and banged out a one-base hit in the 9th inning. San Ybel
banged out 11 hits on the night.
Kelly(1-0) lasted until the end allowing 2 runs for the win. Chris Rusin(0-2)
was the losing pitcher. Wth the win San Ybel now has a record of 17-18.
With the loss, Detroit has a record of 6-4 lately, 18-17 overall.
