It was a laugher out at Lawton Stadium. The very potent Tombstone
Huckleberries squad ripped California pitching for a total of 15 runs. Phil
Hughes(13-7), with relief help from J.A. Happ, surrendered 2 runs to
California.
Matt Adams had a big evening at the plate. He quieted the crowd by clouting a
Grand Slam in the 1st inning, doubled in the 5th inning and doubled plating
two runs in the 6th inning. Tombstone bats were hot in the 5th inning which
saw them plate 5 runs on 6 hits and the 6th inning which saw them score 6
runs on 4 hits. Overall Tombstone out-hit California 14 to 9.
Ian Kennedy(4-6) took the loss. His ERA increased from 4.85 to 5.53 as he
allowed 9 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings. Adams was in a good mood after the
game, 'I'm just seeing and hitting the ball real well now. I made some
adjustments last week and they are paying off. That's what this game is
about. making adjustments as the season goes along.'
