Designated hitter Kennys Vargas launched 2 homeruns as the Hoffman Estates
Penguins topped the North Dallas Fire Ants in 12 innings by a score of 2 to 1
at the ballpark.
The game was deadlocked at 1 after nine full innings. Hoffman Estates was
victorious in the 12th inning. Vargas smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly'.
Marwin Gonzalez next to the plate and he lashed a single. Starlin Castro
followed, but he was set down on strikes. One out later, Giancarlo Stanton
came to bat and banged out a single. Melky Cabrera stepped into the box and
was hit by a pitch. Andrew McCutchen was next to bat, but he was a strikeout
victim. North Dallas could do no damage in the bottom of the 12th.
The win went to Dominic Leone(3-0) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. Jeurys
Familia earned the save, his 7th. Jesse Hahn(1-3) was charged with the loss
in relief.
Hoffman Estates won for the 6th straight time.
