The hometown crowd was rewarded with a dramatic ending, as the Chicago Colts
staged a comeback win over the Palatine Cubs by the count of 5 to 4.
Chicago erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning
plating 2 runs utilizing 2 base hits. Josh Rutledge led off the inning for
Chicago when he lined a one-base hit. David Dejesus stepped up next and he
cleared the fences for a two-run home run resulting in a mighty exciting win
for Chicago and the 9,241 home town fans in attendance. This was the kind of
game that many fans love as the lead changed hands 5 times.
The win was credited to Mike Morin(5-3) who went 1/3 of an inning allowing no
runs. Sergio Romo(2-2) was the losing pitcher in relief. He gave up 2 runs
and 2 hits in 1/3 of an inning.
Morin and Dejesus were really whooping it up in the clubhouse after the great
come from behind victory. As Rich Domovic noted, 'A win like this one can do
wonders for a team's attitude.' Everyone shares in the joy - the fans, the
players - even you guys - it's better than winning by a dozen runs!'
