Anthony Rendon slammed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Yuma Desert Rats
defeated the Hoffman Estates Penguins 8 to 6 at The Coliseum.
Rendon was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He smacked a single in the 3rd inning,
hit a bases-empty home run in the 5th inning, lifted one out of the park for
a two run home run in the 7th inning and laced a one-base hit in the 9th
inning. Hoffman Estates threatened in the 9th but Yuma was able to put down
the rally.
The win went to Bud Norris(6-2) who allowed 2 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings.
Norris got help from Joe Smith who earned his 8th save. Charlie Morton(6-3)
absorbed the loss. He gave up 5 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings of work.
