Marcus Stroman carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning and Jose Altuve had 2
base hits and 3 RBI at Busch Stadium as the Yuma Desert Rats belted the
Tampico Stogies by the count of 12 to 1.
Stroman(5-2) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for the
Tampico batters. He surrendered only 1 hit and 1 walk in 7 innings. Stroman
mowed down 9 Tampico batters lowering his ERA to 2.96. The right-handed
Stroman had his no-hit bid broken up by Kole Calhoun who singled with two
outs in the 7th inning. Yuma had many opportunities throughout the game and
scored in 6 separate innings.
Brandon McCarthy(4-5) was the loser. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 14 hits
and 2 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings.
