Shortstop Erick Aybar had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Yuma Desert Rats bested
the Dublin Pubcrawlers 4 to 3 at Comerica Park.
Yuma won the game with a rally in the bottom of the 8th inning with 2 runs on
2 hits. After an out was recorded, George Springer started the rally when he
drew a walk. Jonathan Lucroy was next and he doubled. Lonnie Chisenhall
then worked the squeeze play to perfection. Michael Saunders stepped in and
he drew a walk. Aybar came up to bat and delivered a one-base hit. Aybar
took his lead and swiped second. Jose Altuve was next and he was walked
intentionally to load the bases. Dublin had a chance to come back in the 9th
but they came up short.
The victory went to Lance Lynn(8-3) who went 8 and 1/3 innings, allowing 3
runs. Lynn was helped out by Joakim Soria who recorded his 9th save. The
losing pitcher was Mike Dunn(1-2) in relief. He surrendered 1 hit and 2
walks in 1 and 1/3 innings.
'I had a little blister on my index finger before the game, but I thought it
was nothing.' Lynn said. 'I was lucky I got a win because I couldn't put the
ball where I wanted it.'
