Victor Martinez ripped 2 homeruns as the Streator Reds rallied impressively to
win in dramatic style over San Ybel Islanders, 7 to 6.
Streator won the game with a rally in the 9th inning plating 3 runs on 3 hits.
Martinez opened up the scoring as he ripped a solo home run. Todd Frazier
came next and he slapped a base-hit. Yunel Escobar then clubbed a two-run
home run. After an out was recorded, Miguel Montero came to bat and was hit
by a pitch. Joe Panik stepped into the box and drew a walk. One out later,
Nick Markakis was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out. Streator
had 8 hits for the night.
Adam Warren(1-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Craig
Kimbrel earned his 8th save. Joaquin Benoit(0-1) was tagged with the loss in
relief.
'Ralph Madara was estatic following the game, 'You love stealing one on the
road like this. We just kept plugging away until we pulled it out!'
