Left fielder Brandon Guyer hit one over the fence as the Tampico Stogies
defeated the Columbus Crowd in 10 innings by the score of 6 to 3 at Busch
Stadium.
The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings. Tampico came out on top in the
10th inning. Munenori Kawasaki opened up the inning nicely when he drew a
walk. Brett Gardner followed, but he was set down on strikes. Guyer then
doubled. After another out, Josh Donaldson came to bat and lofted a
three-run 'big-fly' making Tampico victorious to the delight of the the home
town crowd. Tampico finished with 7 hits in the victory.
The win went to Chad Qualls(1-0) who allowed no runs in 2/3 of an inning. Josh
Tomlin(0-1) was tagged with the loss in relief. He pitched 2 and 2/3 innings
giving up 3 hits and 1 walk.
