Brandon Workman racked up an impressive total of 15 strikeouts and third
baseman Luis Valbuena had 4 hits and 4 RBI as the Egham Raiders defeated the
Tampico Stogies 11 to 5 at Englefield Green.
The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Valbuena. He ripped a one-base hit in the 2nd inning, lofted a
three-run bomb in the 3rd inning, lined a single in the 5th inning and lashed
a base-hit which brought home a run in the 8th inning. Egham totaled 16 hits
on the night.
Workman(2-4) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 5 runs. A.J.
Griffin(16-12) suffered the loss. Egham scored big getting 6 runs off him in
2 and 2/3 innings.
Mike Aldrich was upset after the game. 'I don't like to complain but did you
see that umpires strike zone?', he said. 'Maybe they ought to start calling
the strike zone the way it's printed in the rule book.'
