Paul Goldschmidt hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBI as the Detroit Iron Gloves
defeated the Dyersville Jurassics by the score of 12 to 4 at Edsel
Stadium.
Detroit scored 7 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning when they had 5 base
hits. The big moment was provided by Goldschmidt who brought the crowd to
their feet when he doubled emptying the bases. Detroit finished with 15 hits
while Dyersville ended up with 6.
Jose Fernandez(16-4) allowed 4 runs in 6 innings, and picked up the victory.
Fernandez got relief help from Jonathan Papelbon who gained credit for his
15th save. The losing pitcher was Jake Diekman(2-1) in relief. He
surrendered 2 hits and 1 walk without retiring a batter.
