In a tight game it was the Tampico Stogies 8, the dreadful Hoffman Estates
Penguins 6 at Busch Stadium.
Tampico scored the winning runs in the 8th inning with 3 runs on 3 base hits.
After an out was recorded, Jonathan Herrera initiated the scoring spurt when
he smacked a single. After another out, Brett Gardner came to the plate and
drew a walk. Torii Hunter then doubled. Josh Donaldson stepped in and he
hit a single. Donaldson took second on the throw. Moises Sierra came to the
plate and was walked intentionally. It was roller coaster of a game as the
lead change hands 5 times.
The victory was credited to Brad Ziegler(4-1) who went 1 inning, allowing 1
run. Joe Nathan gained credit for his 30th save. Tom Koehler(2-9) was the
losing pitcher in relief.
