The Hoffman Estates Penguins ended a long winless drought and nipped the North
Dallas Fire Ants 5 to 4 at the ballpark in a hard fought contest.
Hoffman Estates scored 2 runs in the decisive top of the 5th inning when they
had 4 base hits. They would hold up as the winning runs. Hoffman Estates
managed 12 hits in their victory.
Paul Maholm(6-9) got the win allowing 4 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings. Jason
Hammel earned his 1st save. Wade Miley(6-12) was the losing pitcher. He
allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 12 hits and 4 walks in 8
innings.
'Ahhh, that victory was surely needed. Man alive, things were getting awfully
grim,' noted Steve Seydell. 'Now, we need to string a bunch of wins together
and turn things around!'
