James Shields went 9 solid innings and Marco Scutaro had 2 base hits as the
Tombstone Huckleberries topped the North Dallas Fire Ants by a score of 4 to
1 at the ballpark.
In the 5th inning Tombstone scored 2 runs when they had 3 base hits. Josh
Reddick got things rolling when he ripped a solo home run. Alejandro De Aza
came to the plate and was hit by a pitch. Wade Miley then bounced one in the
dirt for a wild pitch. Scutaro stepped in and he delivered a one-base hit.
Carlos Ruiz stepped into the box and was hit by a pitch. Mike Napoli added
to the rally and delivered a base-hit to load the bases. One out later,
Jimmy Rollins got his chance to keep things going, but he went down on
strikes. The North Dallas offense proved no trouble in the bottom of the
9th.
Shields(9-7), allowing 1 run for the game, picked up the victory. Miley(5-11)
suffered the loss. He pitched 4 innings allowing 7 hits and 1 walk.
Adam Arnett lamented, 'Shields was really aggressive tonight. He kept coming
after our hitters. Heck, why not. he kept sitting our guys down one after
another - like so many bowling pins!'
