Gloves defeated the Chicago Colts by the score of 7 to 3 at Edsel
Stadium.
Detroit brought 3 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 5th inning when
they had 3 base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Goldschmidt who
electrified Edsel Stadium when he smacked a three-run homer. Detroit rapped
out 11 hits for the night.
Joe Saunders(5-4) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings.
Jhoulys Chacin(5-9) took the loss. He allowed 10 hits and 4 walks in 6 and
1/3 innings.
The Detroit ballclub's record now stands at a division leading 58-29. Chicago
