Shortstop Jed Lowrie had 2 base hits at Progressive Field where the Tampico
Stogies beat the San Ybel Islanders 5 to 4.
In the top of the 7th inning Tampico scored 2 runs. The crucial at-bat was
provided by Torii Hunter who deflated the mood of the partisan fans when he
doubled which was good for two runs. San Ybel proved to be no trouble in the
bottom of the 9th.
Ivan Nova(3-0) got the win allowing 3 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings. Nova was
helped out by Chris Withrow who recorded his 2nd save. Hector Santiago(0-1)
took the loss. His ERA ballooned from 4.80 to 5.14 as he allowed 4 runs in 6
innings.
'I had a little blister on my index finger before the game, but I thought it
was nothing.' Nova said. 'I was lucky I got a win because I couldn't put the
ball where I wanted it.'
